As a tree grows, the angles that are between limbs determine the structural integrity. Branches with a wide angle of attachment (limb) or a pronounced U shape will be stronger than that of a narrow V shape. When a tree is young, the stress on the attachments or (limbs) is low. The mature tree is different, with the weight of the canopy and additional load placed upon it from wind, snow, and wet foliage. Properly placed cables will enhance the structural integrity. At R.W. Emmott Arborist, we provide cabling for larger limbs to prevent damage and the need for limb removal.
